The procedure for consular legalization of documents has been approved
On 20.11.2023, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted Resolution No. 601, which approved the Regulation on the procedure for consular legalization of documents and acts in the Republic of Uzbekistan and abroad.
The regulation defined the procedure for legalizing documents and acts in the republic and consular offices of Uzbekistan, making a record of legalization and requirements for these documents and acts.
Legalizing documents and acts by consular institutions confirms their legality in international relations.
Consular legalization does not confirm the facts stated in the document or act, but only the powers of the person who signed them, and the authenticity of the seal or stamp printed on the document or act.
The functions of consular legalization are carried out by:
- in foreign countries – consular offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
- In the Republic of Uzbekistan – the Consular and Legal Department.
Passports, ID cards, party documents, trade union or military tickets, documents certifying property rights, documents confirming belonging to a class or religion, as well as those documents that have been excluded from civil circulation are not subject to legalization.
Going through the legalization procedure is not required if there is an apostille on the document.
