Updates on cross-boarder transfer of personal data

In accordance with Article 27¹ of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On Personal Data» personal data not included in the list of mandatory storage in Uzbekistan may be stored and processed outside the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan if a foreign state is recognized as ensuring adequate protection of personal data.

And with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No 415 dated 29.08.2026, the list of foreign states ensuring adequate protection of personal data was approved.

To foreign countries included in this list personal data may be transferred across borders, through information systems established on the basis of international agreements, automatically, without obtaining additional permits and without notifying the competent state authority, with taking measures to prevent the leakage of personal data.

The transfer of personal data to foreign countries not included in the list is permitted to the operator and the owner of the personal data database, provided that the established legal, organizational, and technical requirements are complied with.
