Communication sector in Uzbekistan is governed by a substantial number of statutory laws and legislative acts. Main Law in this sector is the Uzbekistan Law “On Telecommunications”.
Most of the legislative acts in the communication sector are issued by the Government and the Ministry on Development of Information Technologies and of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is titled as special authorized body in communication sector. Certain communication activity in Uzbekistan is subject to obtaining relevant license. Licensing of the communication activity is performed by the above Ministry.
According to the Uzbekistan Law “On communications”, the Ministry shall also distribute radio frequencies among the enterprises, organizations and persons as well as provide control for observance on the relevant legislation.
The Uzbekistan Law “On radio-frequency spectrum” provides that the radio-frequency spectrum shall be used on bases of special permission.
